Operation Calgary - What Does One Pack For A Four Day Road Trip

Between trying to wrap up five different courses, moving one best friend to Calgary and planning other best friend’s bachelorette, it has been an interesting week. “I-miss-the-gym” kind of week. Hello, tension headache.

Packing for a winter road trip is not that different than packing for the Death Race. Although this time around I am taking way less shoes.

– Shovel – Emergency blankets – Clif bars – Headlamp – Flask of brandy (yes, I had a flask of brandy at the Death Race. If you are considering the Death Race, you should have one too. Even if YOU won’t use it, it will make you lots of friends. True story.)

I’m almost tempted to pack a tuxedo. And a life jacket.

I’ve been almost intentionally avoiding checking the Calgary weather for the past few days, because… well, let’s just say it’s not road trip weather.

Here’s an image from Calgary three days ago:

Audio books are supposed to provide most of our in-flight… I mean on road entertainment.

Instead of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, we went for sex (duh!), space and business success. The reading list is as follows:

1. Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi Not sure if this one is on the MBA reading list, but it should be.

2. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Doug Adams A classic that I never got a chance to read, and is on my bucket list. I may be full of nerdy quotes for a while.

3. Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson Memoir by an interesting character.

… You need a reason? I heard the road gets pretty dry, so we got to keep it juicy. If we cannot feast the eyes, we will at least feast the ears. (And I can always count on Dan Savage for a book recommendation).

Operation Calgary is scheduled for lift off in 25 hours.

Between now and then – finish the work day at 10pm, tie loose ends (yeah, I don’t know what that means either), pack, sleep. Oh, and PACK!

Signing off, Solo
